Well do ya?!

There’s nothing innovative about this design, but it does have a huge personal meaning. I wore this design on a tank top at my first ever Pride parade!

It was such a huge experience for me and I was tearing up every five minutes, because it was all so beautiful and overwhelming… and then also a bit sad. I saw all these people waving and smiling at me cause I was walking in the parade, but at the same time I knew that if you saw me walking down the street tomorrow, holding the hand of my girlfriend or kissing her – however innocently or briefly – most of these people wouldn't be smiling at it. Well, maybe some dirty smiles or those that are a result of a joke told at our expense.

But at the Pride parade, these people just accepted me and the most flaming, flamboyant, butch, queer, quirky, nerdy or just plain normal and average LGBT person. And for once, I could hold the hand of the person I love, and kiss her in plain sight, and not only would it be accepted or tolerated, it would be cheered and celebrated. And if anyone would dare to react otherwise, then there were literally thousands of “my people” ready to defend our right to be who we are and do what comes naturally to us.

So yes, I do have pride and I still get shivers and goose bumps when I see any kind of Pride parade. The outburst of feeling freedom and pride to be yourself gets me every time. Do you have pride?
